1st Week
Another year of great fishing on the Caney Fork River. As always we strive to give you the most accurate fishing report available. The Caney Fork River is our backyard that we fish, play, and work on the river. The year starts off with cold weather and high water on the Caney Fork River. Few seagulls and few fishermen.
Caney Fork River is clear and 48 degrees.
2nd Week
The Caney Fork River is generating and sluice gates open 24/7, very few die-hard fishermen on the river.
The river is clear and 48 degrees and water is very high on the banks.
3rd Week
The weather remains very cold and lots of generating and sluicing. The seagulls have arrived in large numbers. No opportunity to wade fish. Some fisherman in boats trolling and using spoons.
The Caney Fork River is still clear up and the lower. The water temperature in the 40’s.
4th Week
Still lots of generating around the clock. There is a lot of seagulls flying means one thing shad minnows going thru the generators. A few fishermen braving the rain, ice, and snow to catch that Big Brown Trout. The Acme spoons is the trick on the river in high water.
Water level is out of it’s bank and water temperature is 46 degrees.

1st Week
The Caney Fork river is producing some big brown trout on Acme and Kastmaster spoons. Lot of seagulls flying at the Center Hill Dam. Some fish being taken at the dam. There are opportunities for the fisherman in the boats to drift and troll. The fly fishing is slow but use large streamers pattern in light colors.
Water level is out of it’s bank and water temperature is 46 degrees.
2nd Week
The weather condition remains cold and rainy, which in turn means high water in the river. Still some really big brown trout has already been caught and release this year on the river. No wade fishing at this time.
The river is high on the banks and 47 degrees.
3rd Week
The Caney Fork River is still generating 24/7. The heavy rain and cold weather has most fisherman at home.
The river temperature is 47 degrees and river is high on the banks.
4th Week
The weather is extremely cold on the Caney Fork River this week. The heavy rains has the river generating 24/7. Few seagulls in the area. No chance to wade fish.
Water is clear and river temperature is 47 degrees.

1st Week
The Caney Fork River remains high waters. Generating long periods with a small window for no generating. The Caney Fork River has been extremely difficult to find a good time to fish. The generating will continue with all the rains.
Caney Fork River is clear and 48 degrees.
2nd Week
Spring is on it’s way and not a day to soon. The weather is still cold and heavy rains has the river generating 24/7. No wade fishing at this time. Some trout being caught on Rooster tails and spoons.
The Caney Fork River has some color and 48 degrees.
3rd Week
Spring was arrived and not one day to soon. The season is getting off to a great start with some really nice size trout. Spin fishing using trout magnets on the gravel banks. Fly fishing still using streamers.
Caney Fork River is 3 ft on the banks and 49 degrees.
4th Week
The Caney Fork River is seeing some action on spinners and power bait for the trout. The generating has slow down with short periods of no generating.
The river is 3-4ft on the banks. It is clear and 49 degrees.

1st Week
The Caney Fork river is still in the afternoon with 2 or more generators. There is still shad going thru the generators. The tout are still at the Center Hill Dam area feeding on the shad.
The river temperature is 49 degrees and clear.
2nd Week
The Spring fishing season has arrived and so have the rains. The windows for no generating are short lived and are in the early mornings. Some trout being caught on spinners, and Pautzke Balls Fire.
The river is clear and temperature is around 48 degrees.
3rd Week
The Caney Fork River generating has slow down somewhat with less generating in the morning. A short period for wade fishing early morning and back to high water afternoons. Some fly fishing in the early morning using black woolly buggers and shad patterns. The spin fishing using some brown and black Rooster tails.
The river temperature remains 48 degrees and clear. The river is still high on the banks and some areas out of its banks.
4th Week
Well Spring arrived back in March, but few warm days. The generators are still on most of the time with a few hours of no generating from midnight until 10:00am. A few trout being taken in the early mornings on Zebra and Woolly Buggers. Spin Fisherman using Trout Magnets, Berkley Power Bait and Pautzke Salmon Eggs during no generating.
Caney Fork River is 49 degrees and has some color. The river remains high on the banks.

Water Condition
1st Week
Rainbow Trout are being caught and multiple people hitting their limits. Fly fishermen was catching them on Olive Wooly Buggers and Purple Princes. Spin fisherman were on fire with the green lidded Pautzke Salmon eggs.
First time we have seen the generators being off enough for a good day for fishing. The river is around 50°.
2nd Week
Again multiple people hitting there limits on Rainbow Trout. Seen a good 17 inch Rainbow this week. He was a fat boy. They have been eating a lot this winter. Slow for the Fly Fishermen this week. They were mostly hitting them on Purple and Black Zebras, and some Olive Scuds. Spin fishermen were catching them using Nightcrawlers, green lidded Pautzke Salmon eggs, and olive colored Rooster Tails. Also huge Stripers being caught on the river this week.
Water has been off multiple days throughout the week, which makes it great for wade fishing. The water is clear but a little low.
3rd Week
Trout fishing this week is doing great. For fly fishermen, they were hitting them off of purple, black, and green zebras, and brown and green scuds. Spin fishermen are having the best luck with Nightcrawlers, Pautzke Salmon eggs, Rainbow Rapala, and olive and brown colored Rooster Tails. Striper fish still being caught down river.
The generators are off throughout most of the day making it another great week to wade, bank, or kayak fish. However, the river is low this week.
4th Week
Trout being caught below the dam this week. Spin fishermen are having the best of luck with Blue Back, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Shad Yo-Zuri lure. Fly fishermen are using Parachute Adams early in the morning and late in the afternoon for top water. For under the water, Pink Glo Bugs and Bead Headed Hare’s Ear.
Generation schedule is staying consistent with early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

1st Week
Rainbow trout being caught down at Happy Hollow and Betty’s Island. TWRA showed us a picture of an 8 lbs Rainbow caught. Fly fishing it is red and black Zebra Nymphs. Spin fishing is olive, white, and black Rooster Tails.
Generation has slowed down, which makes it great for wading in the river.
2nd Week
Good 16′ to 20′ Browns caught below the dam this week. Olive and Brown Trout Magnets were what they were using. Fly fishing is still doing amaze with Nymphs and Black Ants.
Generators have been coming on early in the morning and later in the afternoon, which makes the water levels low.
3rd Week
Green label salmon eggs are rocking this week. It’s catching trout, walleye, bluegill, and some small mouth bass. Fly fishing are Caddis and Nymph flies.
Water has been clear this week. Makes it real easy to see the fish in the water. Generation schedule is consistent with early morning and late afternoon generating. However the generation schedules are subject to change, make sure to check the generation schedule.
4th Week
Below the dam is on FIRE this week for Trout! Spin fishermen are using Rainbow, Brown, and Blue Back Yo-Zuri and Rapala lures. Also the Pautzke’s Green Label and Nightcrawlers are doing well down river. Fly fishing has been all wet flies like Zebra Nymphs, Hare’s Ear, and Bead Headed Purple Prince.
Generation is around the clock right now because of all the rain. The water is musky and dirty also this week.

1st Week
Spin fisherman are using Yozuri sinking Pin Minnows sizes 2 3/4″. Fly fishing has been a hit and miss this week because of the generators being on so much.
A lot of rain this week for the holiday weekend. Center Hill Dam has been generating much more because of it.
2nd Week
Spin fisherman have been using Rooster Tails (rainbow and brown pattern) and Little Cleo (gold). Fly fishermen’s best luck have been early in the morning before the generators come on using top water flies (Parachute Adams and Blue Wing Olive).
Because of the rain, generators have been going much of the day. Check the Center Hill Dam generation schedule before going out on it.
3rd Week
The Caney Fork River is turning out some of the biggest Brown and Rainbow Trout this season. The sluice gates are now running with the generators and it is making the fishing fantastic. The spin fisherman is using Rapala’s broken back and jerkbait in sliver and black during the day. The fly fisherman are going early morning using zebra nymph’s and black woolly buggers. No wade fishing after 11:00am, early mornings for wading.
The Caney is low on the banks in the mornings. The Caney during the day is very high (10ft.) on the banks. The river temperature is 47 degrees and has some color.
4th Week
Rock fish being caught below Betty’s Island. Rainbow and Brown trout being caught when the generators go off below the dam.
The water is a little musky because of all the generation. Starting to also see the generators downing off more often.

1st Week
Rainbow trout being caught when the generators turn off below the Center Hill Dam. Olive trout magnets are working the best right now. Fly fishing is doing the best when the water is low with dry flies, Parachute Adam, Mosquito, and Royal Wulff.
The river is starting to clear off when generators and sluice gates are on.
2nd Week
The Caney Fork River still remains one of the best fishery in the state. The Center Hill Dam has been generating with one generator and two sluice gates for two to 6 hours per day, so you really haven’t to plan that fishing trip around the schedule. Wade fishing early in the morning and late afternoon. The spin fisherman using blue and silver Cleo’s spoons during generating periods. Mag power eggs in orange and red colors. Fly fishing using Zebra midge, midge fly and woolly bugger. There has been a hatch of stone fly.
River temperature is 52 degrees. Clear and high on the banks during generating and sluicing. Lower on the banks during no generating and sluicing.

The Caney Fork has been generating with one generator and two sluice gates Monday thru Thrusday from 9:00am until 5:00pm. The better days to try to fish is Friday thru Sunday with the generators and sluice gates on only two hours 9:00am until 11:00am. Late afternoon seems to be the best time for any size of trout. It has been a tough month of trout fishing.
The water level is still low Friday thru Sunday, with Monday thru Thursday being high on the banks. The temperature is 50 degrees and to cloudy with some color.
4th Week
Caney Fork River is still producing some nice size trout during early mornings and late afternoons. October normally will be a month of large size trout being caught but this year has not produce the numbers or sizes as in pass years. The spin fisherman using yellow and white Rooster Tails.
The river level is low. During generating 3 to 4 ft on the banks. The river temperature is 50 degrees and the river has some color.
